WHAT IS A TEAM BUILDING ADVENTURE?

Think of it as a cross between a team building event... an escape room... and a LEGO® Serious Play® session!  All these things meld together to create a fun and dynamic event that can be tailored to any size group, and different timings too.

Unlike many other team building events where the loudest person in room gets their way, or the most active person forges the way forwards... this Team Building Adventure – Desert Island Rescue, allows EVERYONE to become involved and be part of the success!

THE BUSINESS CASE:

You might already be sold on the idea, but if you need some extras reasons why adding the Team Building LEGO® Adventure to your toolkit is a great idea (Or you need to persuade someone else to allocate budget towards it...) here's a few extra things to help:

ONE

Not all team building events are equal!

There are many different types of team-building activities that can help improve communication, collaboration, and teamwork including:

  • Communication-based team building: Focusing on improving communication and active listening skills within the team. (Role-playing exercises, group discussions etc.)
  • Problem-solving team building: Solving problems together, often with limited resources or time constraints. (Escape rooms, puzzle-solving etc.)
  • Creative team building: Encouraging teams to think creatively and outside the box. (Design thinking exercises, and art-based activities etc,)

Team Building LEGO® Adventure combines ALL these types of teambuilding in one place to provide a fun and purposeful event that EVERYONE can get involved in.

TWO

Why using LEGO in a team-building event is a genius idea!

  • Using LEGO® allows everyone to be heard: Many team-building activities can sometime be overtaken by the loudest and most extroverted people in the team.  Using individual LEGO® activities allows for everyone to be heard as they explain their build. It's an excellent way to practice active listening and effective communication.
  • Using LEGO® encourages teamwork: Group based LEGO® activities encourage collaboration and working together towards a common goal. It's a great way to foster a sense of unity and cooperation within the team.
  • Using LEGO® stimulates creativity: LEGO® allows for creativity and innovation to flourish. Participants can come up with unique solutions and approaches to problems, fostering creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Using LEGO® develops problem-solving skills: LEGO® requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills to create a structure that meets the criteria of the challenge. It's an excellent way to practice identifying and addressing challenges that arise during the team-building process.

THREE

It'll saves you uddles of time and money!

Designing an effective team building event takes a lot of time… I mean A LOT of time!

IN-HOUSE - Looking to host an event yourself in-house?
If you’re going to host a team building event in-house, you are often reliant an event that caters for the masses and relies on 'fun' being the top priority.  If you want more, they you'll need someone to design it for you.  Even with an in-house training team, they still need to spend hours consulting, designing and creating the event.  This all has a cost to it.... a cost that would massively out way the cost if you chose to invest in this predesigned event.

FREELANCERS - Looking to host a team-building event with lots of different clients?
As a trainer or facilitator you may well be involved in hosting team-building events for lots of different clients.  You don't need telling how long it takes to design these events... and resources that go along with them too! Having this pre-designed, flexible event at your fingertips will save you many hours and lots of money too!

About Nikie

Nikie Forster

You might not think early roles in radio, interior design and DIY sound like the most convincing career choices for someone who has since spent over two decades as a Learning and Development professional! But all three of these roles gave me some great opportunities to learn about people, hone my training, and facilitation skills, and craft my own path in a career I love. Having gained many professional qualifications and experience in public and private sector L&D roles, I founded Curious Lighthouse Learning Consultancy Ltd in early 2016, where I specialises in increasing competence and confidence in Line Managers and Trainers to enhance their performance, whether they are at the very start of their journey or experienced professionals. I love that my role allows me to work with all types of companies from small growing companies to larger established corporates, and from local charities to the NHS Trusts. I'm passionate about using creative learning methods which, as well as increasing engagement in the sessions, ensures better retention of information and quicker transfer of skills back into the workplace. (And yes, I do use LEGO® in many of the my sessions!!) Curious Lighthouse is based in Hampshire and mainly serves the south coast.

FAQ

  • How long does the event take to run?

I have suggested three options for how to run the event… (But remember to add in extra time for breaks and lunch!) 2–3 hours 3–4 hours 5–6 hours

  • How many people can the event be run for?

I’ve used a team of ten to demonstrate the event, but it can be run with any number of people. You will need to adjust timings and resources accordingly.

  • How should I set up the tables and chairs for the event?

Because the team will be working on things together, and building LEGO®, you will need tables available. I find clusters of tables work well. Some trainers like the ‘open’ chair semi-circle approach with breakout tables, however I find this makes people feel exposed, and from a practical point of view doesn’t allow for anywhere to put drinks or write notes etc.

  • Can I buy the Desert Island Rescue Map?

YES, and when you buy the event, you’ll get a 20% discount code for the map!

  • Do I need to be certificated in LEGO® Serious Play® to run this event?

NO, you don’t. but you should have a good idea of what LEGO® Serious Play® is and how to facilitate it. If you’re interested here’s a cost effective online course that gives you all you need: https://bit.ly/Intro-to-lsp

  • Do I get any LEGO® with this package?

No. You’re purchasing HOW to run the event along with additional downloadable resources. You’ll need to assess how much LEGO® you require depending on the amount of people you have at your event.

  • Are there subtitles?

Yes. All the videos have subtitles in both English and Spanish.

  • What do I do if I have a question?
